The Good Doctor
It’s hard to believe that the sixth season of “The Good Doctor” premieres tonight. Doesn’t it feel like the show just got started? In any event, things will kick off with a bang as Dr. Shaun Murphy and Lea’s relationship is immediately tested after their wedding reception by an attack at the hospital.

Hasan Minhaj: The King’s Jester
Comedian Hasan Minhaj returns for his second Netflix comedy special, available starting this Tuesday. Filmed at the Brooklyn Academy of Music, topics the funnyman will tackle in his followup effort include fertility, fatherhood, and freedom of speech.

The Trapped 13: How We Survived The Thai Cave
Another compelling watch this week is this new documentary that features members of the Thailand youth soccer team who made international headlines a few years ago. The players share gripping and unforgettable stories about what they did to survive being trapped in Tham Luang Cave in 2018.

Grey’s Anatomy
Perhaps the reason it feels like “The Good Doctor” just started is because another medical drama has been on for so long. “Grey’s Anatomy” premiered in 2005 and 400 episodes of the series have now aired across its 18 seasons. Thursday will mark the start of the show’s 19th season and no matter how you feel about Meredith Grey or Ellen Pompeo, that is an incredible achievement. When the show resumes, new interns join Grey Sloan Memorial as Meredith continues to function as the interim chief. Keep an eye out for the awkwardness between Meredith and Nick (Scott Speedman), who she will see for the first time since rejecting his offer to move to Minnesota.

Hilary Swank stars in this new series about a disgraced reporter who leaves New York behind to join a daily newspaper in Anchorage.

Reginald The Vampire
Inspired by the Fat Vampire novels written by Johnny B. Truant, Jacob Batalon stars in this parody to pop culture’s fascination with vampires, taking particular aim at the “Twilight” franchise. Reginald is an average guy who is just looking for a way to change things up. When a mysterious stranger turns him into a vampire, he gets his chance but isn’t exactly accepted by his new community.

FRIDAY OCT. 7
The Mole
Easily the top pick of the week and what will likely be my top pick for the year is the return of “The Mole.” For those of us old enough to remember the original incarnation of the series that aired from 2001 to 2008 on ABC, we remember it for breaking new ground in the reality space. Hosted by Anderson Cooper (yes, the Anderson Cooper) the series saw a group of strangers work together to add money to a collective pot. The problem was that one of the players was working against the group as a saboteur. The winner was the player who could figure out the true identity of the double-agent. The series was smart, engaging, and interactive. Now, 14 years later, the series is back. The Netflix version features a new host in Alex Wagner but everything else is the same and that’s a good thing. I was given the first five episodes to review and I couldn’t get through them fast enough. You won’t be able to either. Absolute must-watch.

Werewolf By Night
History will be made on Friday as Marvel Studios’ first-ever Halloween special will be released on Disney Plus. “Werewolf By Night” has received a lot of attention ahead of its premiere. The short film follows Jack Russell (Gael Garcia Bernal) a monster hunter who has been summoned with several others to compete for the Bloodstone, a relic that gives special power to its owner. At a special screening at Fantastic Fest 2022, the project received rave reviews.

Conversations With A Killer: The Jeffrey Dahmer Tapes
If you are as obsessed with Evan Peters’ portrayal of a serial killer in “Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story,” a new doc series is on tap and ready for your watchlist. In “Conversations With A Killer: The Jeffrey Dahmer Tapes,” the mind of the warped murdered is further explored. The new show unpacks recorded interviews with Dahmer’s legal teams. This is in an effort to reveal the way that race, sexuality, and class allowed him to prey on his victims. Are we getting to the point where we are glorifying horrific murders and their perpetrators for our amusement? Most definitely but I guess you could say that for any true crime programs.

Luckiest Girl Alive
After years of waiting, many girls will feel like they are the luckiest girl alive now that they can finally watch the film adaptation of Jessica Knoll’s bestselling novel. Produced by and starring Mila Kunis, the movie is about a woman who is forced to confront a devastating secret from her past after agreeing to be interviewed for a true crime documentary.
