Sophie Gregoire-Trudeau joined Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle on her podcast this week to speak about the pressures of life in the public eye.

The episode of Markle’s podcast, “Archetypes,” was released on Tuesday. Gregoire-Trudeau, actress Pamela Adlon and comedian Sam Jay spoke with Markle about managing expectations as mothers and wives. The episode is titled “Good Wife/Bad Wife, Good Mom/Bad Mom.”

In a post to Instagram, Gregoire-Trudeau said the discussion was an “honest conversation about womanhood, parenthood, anxiety and other shared human experiences that connect us all.”

The podcast opened with Markle’s account of Gregoire-Trudeau’s visit at Markle’s Montecito pool.

“This wasn’t our day of being the wives and moms, all perfectly coiffed with updos and pearls and demure smiles,” Markle said in the podcast.

“This was the other version of us both with wild curly hair and swimsuits and loose linen and huge belly laughs … we were just having so much fun.”

In the podcast’s eighth episode, Gregoire-Trudeau spoke about being a mother under public scrutiny.

“We’ve learned to self-impose (guilt) … a little girl is not born feeling guilty for being a girl, we learn it, and that’s completely unacceptable,” Gregoire-Trudeau said in the podcast.

“We often define freedom as a way to be from the world, but it’s really a way to be free in the world.”

Gregoire-Trudeau and Markle also discussed the writings of Shefali Tsabary, a clinical psychologist at the University of Columbia in New York.

Markle first launched “Archetypes” on Spotify on Aug. 23. Previous episodes have featured discussions with tennis star Serena Williams, actress Issa Rae and media personality Paris Hilton.
