The PS VR2’s launch catalog will include major first-party and third-party titles.

This past February, Sony offered us our first look at the PlayStation VR2 (PS VR2), a new-and-improved console VR headset boasting a 4K HDR resolution, new sensory features, built-in eye-tracking, redesigned motion controllers, headset-based haptic feedback, and a variety of other game-changing enhancements.

Earlier today, Sony offered additional information regarding the headsets launch game catalog. During a business briefing held earlier today, Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO Jim Ryan confirmed that the PlayStation VR2 will have over 20+ VR games at launch, including both first-party and third-party titles.

“Right now, there is a considerable amount of money being spent on partnerships with independent and other third-party developers to secure a considerable pipeline of attractive VR content at the launch of PlayStation VR2,” said Ryan during the presentation, entitled ‘PS VR2: New Levels of Immersion.’ “That energy, that effort and that money will continue to grow as the installed base of PlayStation VR 2 headsets grows also.”

As for what these titles could be, we’ll just have to wait and see. Based on images provided in the presentation, Horizon Call of the Mountain, one of the PS VR2’s first original titles, could be available at launch. Developer Vankrupt Games has already confirmed that its popular PvP shooter Pavlov VR will be heading to the headset, as will Innersloth’s highly-anticipated Among Us VR.

Rumors have also been circulating about potential PS VR2 ports of existing games such as Half-Life: Alyx, Gran Turismo 7, and Resident Evil Village just to name a few. That said, we’ve yet to receive any official confirmation from any of their respective developers.

The PlayStation VR2 was supposedly scheduled to launch this Holiday season, though a new report claims that the company has been forced to delay its release. Rumor has it Sony may be hosting a PS VR2 event sometime next month. Hopefully, we’ll learn more about the launch catalog then.
