The fast-growing sport arrives on Meta Quest VR headsets.
Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve probably heard of Pickleball. A cross between tennis, badminton, and ping-pong, the relatively unknown sport has recently exploded in popularity within the United States and Canada. So it was only a matter of time until someone made a VR game based on the hit racket/paddle activity.
Available now via App Lab, Playin Pickleball promises an authentic Pickleball experience on Meta Quest 2 and Meta Quest Pro headsets. According to the description, the game features realistic physics and sounds based on actual Pickleball gameplay as well as scoring and rules taken straight from the USA Pickleball Association’s Official Rulebook.
If you’ve never played Pickleball before, the game is designed to be easy to pick up but difficult to master. According to the website, Playin Pickleball features a built-in tutorial designed to teach you the basics. Once you’ve gotten a better handle on the game you can compete in causal and ranked matches against artificial intelligence (AI) opponents as well as other players via online multiplayer. The game features support for both singles and doubles matches, allowing you to team up with a friend.
“Playin Pickleball was designed to give existing players access to their favorite game, even during the off-season,” says the official website. “The game also makes it easy for VR gamers to get introduced to the sport with the inclusion of extensive tutorials and difficulty levels.”
